2024 Reading Challenge

 2024 READING CHALLENGE

I love the start of a new year. It’s like a blank slate where anything is possible. Trust me!! Every day is a day where anything is possible. I’m not sure what makes January 1 so special, but we just go with it. I know one of the things most people do is make resolutions. One of the things that I encourage people to do is set goals to get their mind in shape. Reading is one of the best ways to do this.

Stay tuned for more updates on the 2024 reading challenge. We will be posting regular updates, book recommendations, reading tips, and much more. Make sure to follow me on Pinterest @raechelleeasey for the latest updates.

Make the Habit Stick

The start of a new year always brings with it an air of excitement and possibility. One to the things I struggle with is making my new habit stick. I’m so excited the first few days or even the first month. But then something always comes up and I’ll do it at a different time. The different time never comes, and I don’t do whatever habit it is read, exercise, take my vitamins etc. Then I stop doing the thing. STOP NOT DOING THE THING!!! I can’t express that enough. YOU AREWORTH IT!!

Here are 5 tips to make most habits stick and make you successful:

  • Start small: set small amount of time where you can focus on reading (or whatever you are focused on) for 10 minutes, it’s a start. If you aren’t one who regularly read before it would be impossible to sit and read for an hour. Starting is starting.

  • Be consistent: I have found that if I do the same thing at the same time, I do the things I want to focus on. I have found that if I read for 10 minutes in the morning, and then again before bed I get my reading done. I don’t feel like its a chore or bother. I actually like to read.

  • Make it easy: Read what interests you. I prefer to read self-help and inspirational books. I know that not everyone does. If books aren’t your thing that’s ok. I just want to encourage you to read. I’ll make suggestions for books but read what interests you. And share with me what you are reading. I love recommendations.

  • Just do it: There will be times when you don’t feel like it. Do it anyway. Power through the blah feeling and just do it. Reading is something that you can control. Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing something, its because I don’t feel like I have control. Once I complete the task at hand, I feel like I gain control back. It’s a good feeling.

  • Track and reward: I know it sounds childish, but we love to see progress. And we love to reward ourselves. So why not do both? Make sure you share your rewards with us. I love to find new ways to reward myself. I’ll be making a tracker for different goals.

The 2024 Reading Challenge

Reading challenges have become popular over the past few years and with great reasons. This year I want to invite you to join me on this self-paced, you choose the goal journey. You choose the outcome. I just want to encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and discover something new. Rather it's a new author or new genre. it’s all about the journey not the destination. The 2024 Reading Challenge is yours to design. I will guide you.

Why Participate?

I’m sure if you are like me your parents and teachers were all the time encouraging you to read. Reading on the regular is so healthy for you. It helps to improve your vocabulary, even as adults, and improves you comprehension skills. Reading can help you learn new skills or give you a new way to look at old things. It can take you to a new place or inspire you to actually go to a new place. Developing regular reading habits can enrich your live in so many ways. So why not give it a try.

How to Join

Are you ready to read? That’s all you have to do to join this challenge. Commit to yourself on a goal: it can be anything. I would love to read 52 books a year, but I know that would be a huge stretch, I don’t read fast so I’m going to start with 26 books this year. (Don’t worry I’ll make a suggestion list for 52 books) I can’t express this enough make this challenge personal. Choose the books that interest you, you choose the pace and the goal that is just right for you. I just ask that you share it with the rest of us. Let us know so we can cheer you on. Who knows you might give someone else an idea.

LET’S GO!!!! Grab your favorite book and start reading. Let's embark on this exciting journey together! Follow me on Pinterest @raechelleeasey for more updates and inspiration.
